Calling all cool communities!
I recently found a community (and podcast) called IndieHackers.
It’s a platform for people, mostly tech and software-minded people, who are building products and businesses from the ground up.
What I love about IndieHackers is that it’s not aimed the Silicon Valley tech bro looking to take over the world. Rather, it’s a community of tinkerers who are using their skills and creativity to fill a smaller niche.
It’s kind of like Substack, except with code instead of written language.
On both platforms, I see an unusual amount of positivity and support. I also see lots of people who are okay with just reaching the moon and not the stars. Or rather, shooting their own little moon into space and then hanging out on it.
I want to find all of these communities! Bandcamp has a similar energy in the music world, however it’s more about the finished product than the creative journey. Let me know if you know of any more!
This newsletter is going to be a medley (for now)
Now that my desire to create with code has been reinvigorated, I can’t help myself from having a wide variety of topics I’m excited to write about.
I’m not quite sure yet how I am going to combine music, art, philosophy, and technology, but it seems possible. I want to do things like deep dives on the life lessons, songwriting analysis, and show-and-tells of apps that I am building (I want to make the mortal enemy of all the mindless attention-sucking apps).
All in all, I going to try really hard to figure out to succeed in this self-starter, tinkerer, independent-creative-project realm, and I am going to write about it along the way.
Hopefully I can pave the way for others to do the same.
